Home based services

There may be times when you are unable to travel to the clinic to have your physiotherapy sessions. This may be due to having difficulty with public transport or you may feel that you are more comfortable with doing your physiotherapy at your place of residence. At Merrylands rehab Centre we provide home-based services. This means that we can arrange a time to see you in your place of residence.

At Merrylands Rehab Centre

At Merrylands Rehab Centre, we use the most advance technological facilities for our patients to have a successful treatment. If you are unable to travel to our clinic to use the facilities, we bring them to you. Below we have listed some of the machines that we bring with us to your place of residence to provide you with the best treatment at home.
In addition to technological treatment and facilities that we bring for you, we also provide you with advice and education that can assist you through your rehabilitation journey.

Home based services

MLS Laser Therapy

MLS laser is a non-invasive treatment (does not penetrate your skin) and a great treatment for a range of different conditions. MLS laser can fasten your healing process by reducing inflammation in your body and energizing your cells to let your body to heal in a fast and effective manner.
There are a range of different conditions that can benefit from using this treatment. Some of the most common conditions that can benefit from this treatment include:

  • Shoulder pain,
  • Back pain,
  • Migraine headache,
  • Jaw pain,
  • Neuromas,
  • Arthritis,
  • Post-surgical swelling,

Compression Therapy (using compression machine)

Compression therapy is a type of treatment that helps with blood circulation in your legs. There are different ways that compression therapy can be done and at Merrylands Rehab Centre, we use compression machine to do this treatment.
Compression therapy is a helpful treatment if you are suffering from swelling on your legs or if you are experiencing discomfort. This type of treatment works by using the right amount of pressure to help with the blood circulation in your legs and prevent any type of swelling or discomfort you may experience.

Interferential

Interferential treatment is a type of treatment that reduces swelling or pain in your body by using electrical currents. Interferential treatment is one of the most common treatments used by physiotherapists around the world and can be a great treatment for a range of different conditions.
The conditions that interferential treatment can be beneficial for include:

  • Weakness in your muscle
  • Increase in blood flow
  • Muscle spasm
  • Swelling
  • Musculoskeletal pain

Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy is a type of treatment that uses mechanical energy and vibration to send ultrasound transmissions through your tissues and helps with heating up and relaxing your muscles.
Ultrasound therapy is used for a range of different conditions. This type of therapy, used in combination with other types of physiotherapy treatments, can help patients with pain relief and healing process.

Occupational therapy (OT) as a home based service

Occupational therapist aims at assisting children or adults with improving and maintaining their self-reliance. This is done by providing activities for the patients to improve their fine motor skills, speed up the recovery process or in some cases OT can provide therapy and advise for patients with mental conditions.
There are a range of different conditions that can benefit from the services of an OT. These conditions may include:

  • Autism
  • Fractured bones
  • Developmental delays
  • Parkinson disease (PD)
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation
  • Behavioural and mental issues
  • Cerebral palsy (CP)

Exercise Equipment

Exercise can be a great treatment for your rehabilitation. At Merrylands Rehab Centre, we provide you with a type of exercise plan that best suits your condition that need.
To assist you with your exercises, we bring with us the required equipment to assist you with your exercises and get the most out of your treatments.

Weights

Some exercises in your rehabilitation plan may require weights to increase your muscle strength. In our home-based sessions we bring you the weights for you to get the most out of your rehabilitation and treatment.

TheraBand

TheraBand may be used for different types of exercises and can be great alternative for exercising with machines. Exercising with TheraBand will allow the patient to increase muscle strength, do exercises without the use of machines or weights (lightweight exercises), have control over the posture and form. TheraBand assists the patient with increasing repetition and consistency of the exercise rather than increasing the weight of the exercise.

Taping Equipment

Taping is one of the methods of treatment used for Home based services physiotherapy sessions. It can facilitate the activation of your muscles. Taping is however not for everyone. Some people may experience an allergic reaction or may experience some irritation to on their skin.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is an invasive treatment that involves a needle being inserted into your skin and helps with reducing muscular pain. Most patients during their dry needling sessions do not feel any discomfort however you may feel a mild sensation while the needles are being inserted and taken out of the skin.
