Intensive rehabilitation can be used for the conditions that require more rehabilitation time in the beginning to set the patient on the right path. Intensive rehabilitation can last from 2 to 3 weeks depending on the patient’s needs.
During the period of your intensive rehabilitation, you will be doing your physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and hydrotherapy more frequently during the week and the duration of these sessions may be longer than what your regular sessions are.

Cerebral palsy (CP) in children
Intensive rehabilitation plans are widely used in the world for children with CP. Children with CP suffer from motor planning and motor learning and intensive rehabilitation can be quite significant for their treatment.

In your initial appointment, your physiotherapist will assess your condition and provide you with a type of plan that best suits your condition and needs. The next step is to start your intensive rehabilitation which may last for 2 to 3 weeks. Our physiotherapists will be with you every step of the way through your rehabilitation journey and provide you with education and advise for your rehabilitation journey.
After your intensive rehabilitation, we assess your condition again and continue with regular treatments.

The technologies are crucial during intensive rehabilitation. The technological and robotics allows the patient to increase intensity of the exercises and repetitions to have a successful treatment.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy can be a beneficial treatment for the patients that require to do movement exercises in water, and it can improve the patient’s motor skills. The reduction of gravity in water allows the patient to do exercises and improve his/her motor skills. Hydrotherapy can also be an effective treatment for pain and management of pain.
At Merrylands Rehab Centre we offer hydrotherapy services as your intensive rehabilitation program and the sessions may continue after your intensive rehabilitation plan ends depending on the program that you have been provided by your physiotherapist.

Occupational therapy (OT)
Occupational therapist provides exercises and treatment plans for the patients to be as independent as possible.
